The ideal Rigger will work on a team with the Crane and Rigging Division under the supervision of the job Project Manager.
Duties/ Responsibilities:
- Attach loads to rigging.
- Prepare equipment, materials, or other items for movement by life equipment including cranes.
- Select, inspect, and maintain rigging equipment necessary for safe and proper lift.
- Guide lifts using hand signals, chain-falls, gin poles, gallows frame or other equipment through narrow openings or confined spaces for proper placement.
- Tilt, dip, and turn suspended loads to maneuver over, under, or around obstacles, using multi-point suspension techniques.
- Inspect rigging prior to lift to ensure proper operation of equipment.
- Fabricate, set up, and repair rigging, supporting structures, hoists, and pulling gear, using hand and power tools.
- Repairing lift equipment when necessary
- Ability to read instructions, job information, and interpret to perform proper lift.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Thorough knowledge of crane signals
- Ability to assess lifts and select most appropriate tools and equipment to perform lift in a safe and efficient manner
- Ability to communicate and coordinate direction to others to assist with lift
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1-2 years experience with rigging in a construction environment
- Signalman 1 qualification
- Rigger 1 qualification
Desired but not required:
- 2-4 years experience with rigging in a construction environment (preferably marine construction).
- Rigger 2 qualification
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
- Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like.
- Exposure to construction and marine site dangers.
- Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
- Operating motor vehicles or heavy equipment.
- Ability to see and respond to dangerous situations.
- Noisy environments.
- Ability to respond quickly to sounds.
- Able to traverse all areas of the jobsite in all types of weather; this may require walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching.
Physical / Environmental Requirements
