The ideal Mechanic will maintain and repair company equipment from vehicles, cranes, boats, and trailers to small engine repair. Repairs are performed on-site repairs as well as in the shop.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- When applicable ensures that Mechanic Helpers are briefed on job assignments and trained to perform assigned tasks.
Duties/ Responsibilities:
- Small engine repair
- Vehicle repair
- Diesel engine repair
- General repair on all company equipment
- Repair Company boats including Tugs, Barges, etc.
- Maintain Shop and all tools and equipment utilized in repair.
- Inspect equipment regularly.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Small engine repair knowledge
- Gasoline Engine Repair
- Diesel Engine Repair
- Boat Repair
- Ability to work with hand tools and power tools
Education and Experience:
- 3-5 years’ experience as a mechanic preferably in the construction industry
- Knowledge of gasoline and diesel engines
- Knowledge of small engine repair
- Valid Driver’s License
- 5-7 years experience as a mechanic with at least 2 years in marine construction desired
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
- Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like.
- Exposure to construction and marine site dangers.
- Small and/or enclosed spaces.
- Moving about accomplishing tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
- Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
- Operating machinery and/or power tools
- Operating motor vehicles or heavy equipment.
- Work in extreme weather conditions.
- Ability to see and respond to dangerous situations.
- Noisy environments.
- Ability to respond quickly to sounds.
- Able to traverse all areas of the jobsite in all types of weather; this may require walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching.
