Marine Construction Estimator
Our company is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Marine Construction Estimator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for estimating the costs of marine construction projects, including bridges, piers, seawalls, and other waterfront structures. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience using HCSS Heavy Bid software and possess at least 5-10 years of relevant experience in marine construction estimating and civil site work construction. A degree in Civil Engineering/technologies or a related field experience is preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze and review project plans, specifications, and other documents to prepare accurate cost estimates for marine construction projects.
- Develop and maintain relationships with vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing for materials and services.
- Use HCSS Heavy Bid software to estimate project costs, including labor, materials, and equipment.
- Prepare detailed written bid proposals and presentations for clients, including project timelines, costs, and scope of work.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other team members to develop cost-effective solutions to complex construction challenges.
- Monitor and support project job costs throughout the construction process, including change orders and additional scope of work.
- Provide regular progress reports to senior management, clients, and other stakeholders.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering/technologies or a related field experience (preferred).
- 5-10 years of experience in marine construction estimating.
- Experience with HCSS Heavy Bid software (preferred).
- Strong analytical, math and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting/driving.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times.
- Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like.
- Exposure to construction and marine site dangers.
- Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
- Operating motor vehicles or heavy equipment.
- Ability to see and respond to dangerous situations.
- Noisy environments.
- Ability to respond quickly to sounds.
- Able to traverse all areas of the jobsite in all types of weather; this may require walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching.
