Assistant Project Manager

Our team members work vigorously to meet our customers’ needs. No two days are the same! Crofton is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join our team.
The Assistant Project Manager is responsible for assisting Project Managers and/or Superintendents in coordinating the activities of a project to ensure cost, schedule, document control and quality standards are met. Under the direction of the PM, the Assistant Project Manager is expected to take on any/all tasks in all phases and aspects prior to and throughout the course of construction on projects. Assist in the preparation and submission of bid documents. Prepare written estimates for clients based on labor, materials, equipment and other expenses.
Duties / Responsibilities:
- Assist the Project Manager / Chief Estimator in managing projects from inception to completion.
- Set up projects in multiple software programs, Fleet Cost & Care, Sage, and Procore
- Enter budget, Schedule of Prices, Prepare invoice template.
- Assist field staff and subcontractors with access to facilities.
- Prepare and assist with pre-construction meetings and monthly Owner meetings as required.
- Review Owner contract and become familiar with terms & conditions. Order COI & Bond.
- Distribute all short interval and overall project schedules. Ensure subcontractors have the most up to date scopes of work. Assist PM in the development of the overall project schedule.
- Work to obtain copies of all necessary permits as requested by the PM.
- Complete sub evaluations/comparisons of bids, scope review, and complete buyout as requested.
- Develop and manage a project submittal log and obtain the designer’s approval.
Required Skills / Abilities:
- Knowledgeable in accounting/construction.
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite and other management software.
- Organized and detail oriented.
- Excels in a high-paced work environment.
- Strong communication skills both oral and written.
- Ability to multi-task effectively.
- Self-starter who works well independently.
- Adaptable and calm under pressure.
Education/Experience:
- Experience in Fleet Cost & Care, Sage, and Procore.
- 3-5 years in accounting or construction experience.
- A degree in construction management or cost accounting is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Able to lift 40 pounds at a time
- Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like.
- Exposure to characteristic construction and marine site dangers
- Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
- Operating machinery and/or power tools.
- Work in extreme weather conditions
- Ability to see and respond to dangerous situations
- Able to traverse all areas of the jobsite in all types of weather; this may require walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching.
