The ideal Carpenter will demonstrate mechanical proficiency with hand tools, project layout, and blueprint reading while performing work in a team environment.
Duties/ Responsibilities:
- Fabricate and erect bulkheads.
- Fabricate and erect framing.
- Fabricate and erect formwork.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to interpret OSHA regulations as they pertain to specific jobs.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Marine construction knowledge a plus.
- Familiarity with OSHA Construction and Maritime Standards.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must have and maintain a clean driving record.
- Possesses basic mechanical skills.
- Positive attitude.
- Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma (or 1-2 years of employment history)
- 2+ years’ work experience
- Experience in Marine Construction is preferred but not necessary.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift as much as 50 pounds at times.
- Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like.
- Exposure to construction and marine site dangers.
- Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
- Adjusting or moving objects up to in all directions. (pushing/pulling/lifting)
- Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
- Operating motor vehicles or heavy equipment.
- Operating machinery and/or power tools
- Work in extreme weather conditions
- Ability to see and respond to dangerous situations.
- Noisy environments.
- Ability to respond quickly to sounds.
- Able to traverse all areas of the jobsite in all types of weather; this may require walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching.
