Underwater Sandblasting and Painting
Crofton Diving was tasked with preparing the areas of the ship's hull, primarily the bilge keel root plate and edges as well as the bulbous bow. (Over 600 square feet). Divers sandblasted marine growth, paint remnants, and oxidation from the areas of missing paint to give the underwater paint to be applied a textured surface to adhere to. Once the hull was prepped, divers painted the bare areas with Hycote 151 underwater two-part paint compound.
